Kakanui is the home of tomatoes and the origin of the Grafted Tomato Plants and we are delighted to tell you that they are back at the Market for the Spring / Summer season!
Chris and Viviene grow and graft many varieties of tomato plants and grow tomatoes that taste the way that they used to, along with chilli, cucumber, courgettes etc and herb plants for spring and summer planting. Chris grew up in Kakanui, where his family grew tomatoes and his grandfather was one of the original growers. Viviene has worked in the nursery business for many years and her specialty is grafting. “Being a part of the Oamaru Farmers Market (and the Otago Market) for the last 20 years, and taking our home grown produce to market during the season is the highlight of our working week. We love hearing the customer feedback and of the joy that they get from eating our produce and growing their own veges and herbs using the Kakanui Produce seedlings.
